To start with I hope you are all safe and healthy and social distancing..

This is my first article for sharing my thoughts during my Covid19 journey

During these trying and difficult times, there have been numerous thoughts that have gone through everyone’s mind. For me over the last many months of being at home, I have been trying to make the most of it with work from home, dealing with isolation and worrying about my family who is in lockdown in India while I am in Berlin.

In the last 2 months or so we have all most likely had a lot of realisation, and for me 4 things stand out (probably similar to everyone’s thoughts)

1. Family and friends – a new perspective of their importance in our lives

2. Working from home and Zoom is the new norm

3. There are no more excuses to not working out/exercising

4. Learning a new skill is not that difficult

I have had days of being extremely dejected and emotional and there have also been days where my energy levels have been high and my productivity has been at its highest. I have really wondered how over the last 5 months I have dealt with being isolated and yet have gotten through the day.

When the lockdown started it was all about Zoom and connecting with family and friends and suddenly we were all available to talk because none of us could really step out of the house. When that became the new norm I thought what more could I add to my schedule. So I started working out 3 times a week at home, reading articles and polished up my cooking and baking skills. And for those who know me would say I absolutely do not like cooking and baking is more therapeutic for me than anything. When working out, cooking, reading became part of the new norm and really a habit for me, I started looking to do other activities like completing my puzzles and trying my hand at colouring. Well the puzzles were great the colouring on the other hand not so much. And all this became part of my schedule along with working from home and of course getting my daily dose of Netflix.

Today I wonder what other skill do I want to learn which I have not tried picking up because of the usual excuse we tell ourselves – I have no time.

In the midst of the Covid 19 world we are all in today, I have wondered how did I manage to keep myself sane while knowing there are restrictions to visit my home, meet my friends regularly and keep myself occupied. Well the answer for me was simple – determination and knowing this too shall pass.

So here are my tips for you if you feel stuck in your journey.... remember we are all in this together -

1. Remind yourself what’s important to you – Focus on yourself, your health and who you are as an individual

2. Find that person who you can talk to about how you feel – Its so important to just be able to share whats going on in your mind

3. Pick up a new hobby – Something you are truly passionate about and never had time to think about - I am still looking so do not worry if you have not found one

4. Learn a new skill/language – something you have never tried before – I am learning German these days

5. Make working out/exercising part of your routine – Start with 3 times a week and take up to 5 times a week

6. Connect with family and friends – in person or zoom – You can never have enough time with family and friends

I hope these tips help you as they surely helped me during the last 5 months of being at home.

Stay safe and be healthy. And remember , this too shall pass
